Patients are very sick and require physician time to talk through everything. As a result, physicians are often running behind schedule and patients spend a lot of time in the waiting and exam rooms. Dr. Cohen’s winning idea was centered around text message alerts for patients in the waiting room or in route to the hospital. This initiative works by alerting patients if their providers are running behind, informing them of their wait times, and giving them more control over their patient journeys and allows them to better anticipate any delays.
