The MGH TeleHealth program provides patients and referring providers with options for virtual access to the expertise of Mass General clinicians. In the Heart Center, the TeleHeart program connects existing patients with their MGH cardiologists via a secure online videoconference to provide expert treatment for a range of cardiovascular conditions.
The Healthcare Transformation Lab collaborated with MGH TeleHealth and the Cardiology Division as the implementation arm of TeleHeart – telemedicine in Cardiology. Collectively, we worked to scale patient and provider adoption, troubleshoot new technology, identify new specialty care use-cases, and provide operational support as the program grows.
The TeleHeart program allowed the team to reduce the time, cost, and stress associated with traveling to an in-person office visit. As this program expands and more is learned about how our patients and providers use this program, we hope to expand this service to many more of our Heart Center patients.
