After a successful 3-month pilot period, HTL is excited to announce that Home Hospital will start using FirstNet (the federal high-speed wireless broadband network dedicated to public safety and health care) and their mobile hotspots to help enhance connectivity for clinicians on-the-go and in patient homes. Ensuring reliable connectivity can be a challenge for in the Home Hospital care model and is imperative for enabling reliable remote communication and data transfer from patients’ monitoring devices in the home.
During the pilot period, clinicians expressed enthusiasm about the routers’ functionality, ease of use, and ability to enhance connectivity in most locales around Boston. Over the next few weeks, HTL will work closely with the Home Hospital team to ensure the devices are successfully operationalized into existing clinical workflows, including developing best practices and guidelines for their use.
