HTL’s Jared Conley joins DiMe and Verizon in DC to shape the future of home-based care

In Washington, DC, Jared Conley joined a DiMe- and Verizon-convened gathering of FDA, CMS, ARPA-H, industry, and academia on how to accelerate the shift to a home-centered model of care.

echnology is increasingly driving care into the home — and realizing that future will take coordination across government, industry, and academia. In late August, HTL’s Jared Conley, MD, PhD, MPH joined a convening in Washington, DC, hosted by the Digital Medicine Society (DiMe) and Verizon, bringing together key stakeholders from the FDA, CMS, ARPA-H, and industry and academic partners to navigate the next steps for home-based care.

The discussion explored how emerging wearable data, medical devices, AI, the Rural Health Transformation Program, and federal funding through ARPA-H and the NIH can enable an ongoing transformation toward a home-centered, facility-supported healthcare system. FDA representatives pointed to the opportunity in AI-enabled care, referencing the agency’s recent announcements in the space.

As Conley reflected, realizing the full potential of such a system “will increasingly require cross-sector collaboration — aligning payment, policy, workflow infrastructure, and community partnerships to deliver care where people want and need it most.”

The convening is part of HTL’s broader work to help shape the national conversation on acute care at home and the policy and infrastructure needed to bring it to scale.
